Accomplishments as a Representative -

  • 2013-2014: Established the United Solutions Caucus (a bipartisan group of freshman House member meeting regularly to discuss specific issues for agreement); Swalwell introduced a bill called Philippines Charitable Giving Assistance Act (donations made to the islands in the Philippines that were affected by Typhoon Haiyan will be considered exemptions for taxes); passed and signed into law by Obama.

  • 2014-2015: Founded Future Forum (a group of House Democrats focused on the concerns of Millennials); combined forces with Rep. Issa (R-CA) to launch the bipartisan Sharing Economy Caucus (exploring ideas how the economic sector can help the Americans)

  • 2015-2016: joined with Rep. Cummings to veil the Protecting Our Democracy Act (independent, bipartisan commission to investigate foreign interference in the 2016 election); the bill failed to gain support, noticing that it was a shadow to the Special Counsel Investigation. Swalwell continued to voice his objections about the interferences with the Special Counsel Investigations with the 2016 elections from the Trump Administration and Republicans.

Position on Disability Rights

The Deaf Report would like to report that there is no substantive information on Congressman Swalwell’s position with disability dights for the presidency. However, Congressman Swalwell developed and created an initiative for the disability community in his district. There has been no reports on his presidential promises on disability rights.

Between his position as California Congressman and his current candidacy for the President of United States, Swalwell is a steadfast supporter for the LGBT community and their desire to have marriage equality. His official stance for the LGBT rights has yet to be seen due to the fact Swalwell focuses on the hot issues: immigration, gun control, and budget appropriations.
